Q & A

How did you first get introduced to art?

My grandmother was an artist and shared her love of art with me. From a young age I was happiest when I was drawing or painting.

Are there any common themes, motifs, or meanings that you return to over and over again in your work?

Art is my way of showing my views of living life. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest with love, joy, and celebration. I believe that in doing anything in life we learn by practice. For example, in my recent collection of ballet dancers, I believe that we learn to dance by practicing dancing and likewise we learn to live by practicing living. Practice and dedication bring a sense of ones’s being, and a satisfaction of spirit. In all arenas, every person is an athlete of God. Whether a person is a parent, teacher, doctor, artist, etc., practice means to perform over and over, from which comes achievement. My themes of practice, dedication, and performance in the face of all obstacles, along with vision and faith bring perfection.

What do you like best about having a studio at the Millworks?

I love working with a community of talented artists. All of the artists are hardworking and dedicated to their practice and continually inspire and encourage each other.
